How a Dutch Pop Band Creates Surprise and Hope

Chef’Special, a Dutch pop band known for their blend of hip-hop, rock and reggae recently released a new video clip. The band presents a stunning synchronous swimming performance.: A choreographed underwater ballet with legs swirling in the air.

That is not what one would expect from a men’s pop band.

Yet they did.
With grace. And curiosity.
They took the risk. And succeeded.

We were always told that magic happens outside of our comfort zone, so we went looking for it…

Unexpected inspiration

I find this video clip inspiring for several reasons:

They committed to learning something new. They invested their energy and imagination.
They created a beautiful clip that I enjoyed with a smile (and I guess others too).
Their enthusiasm is infectious.
They stretched the idea of what a men’s band could do.
And most importantly, they were willing to break with expectations and created hope.

Hope can fuel us. Hope can be refilled. Hope opens the door to possibility.
