Becoming the CEO of My Own Exploration

Embracing Change: What Lies Around the River Bend?

Do you have a favourite river that accompanies you through life? I do – it’s the Rhine. As a Swiss living by the Dutch North Sea, I often travel along the Rhine.

Recently, I walked in Bingen, where the Rhine squeezes through the valley of the Loreley. A year ago, my personal journey felt similar to this landscape, as I navigated a process with bends, rapids and demanding passages.

I wondered how to let my inner river flow more freely and creatively. This sparked a deeper inquiry. It was time to dive into the river of my own identity and explore the waters within.  I’ve worn many hats over the years – teacher, project manager, facilitator, mentor. I realised that labels don’t capture who I truly am – I had moved beyond. It was time to rewrite my purpose and mission statement.

Now, I’m a CEO.

Not what you think.

I’m the Creative Explorer Officer of Learning Moments (the company I founded 8 years ago). It is a playful title that reflects how I bring fun and discovery to my work, creating experiences that spark curiosity and growth.

As the founder of Learning Moments, I want to inspire and challenge people to creatively make space for more healthy, human and happy working and living. It is my mission to provide learning experiences for individuals and organizations to reflect, rethink, and change their behaviours, practices, and principles.

Just as the Rhine is ever-changing yet eternal, so too am I on a journey of personal transformation.

  1. I love your CEO title, Nadia. The founder of the investment firm I’m currently trying to help get funded is our CEO too – her acronym stands for Chief Energy Officer.

For me, I feel very much like I’m still in the (too) early stages of even noticing my own river of change – it’s there, of that I’m confident, but the look, or dare I dream, the feel of it still is cloudy to the point of…inchoate, unknowable-ness.

I do find myself despairing at that, at times, and at other times? Well, I’m starting to stand there without immediately running away from the experience.

Thank you John, I am convinced that that the stage of noticing is the crucial one, noticing and acknowledging get’s the river flowing.
