A jar full of wonder

Notes from my walks and why I need a wander

I’ve started collecting feathers. I find them everywhere I walk. This morning, one was waiting on my doorstep: soft and layered in shades of grey, probably a pigeon’s. I picked it up and added it to the old marmalade jar on my windowsill.

Is it a jar of feathers? Or of wonder?
A little wonder from each walk.

Even an ordinary grey feather is a tiny work of art, so light and so perfectly made.

Feathers remind me to stay curious, and to wander.

Walking, being on the move, means everything to me.

Being outdoors, walking my dog in the woods or in the dunes. Or strolling along city streets. It’s where I write my blog posts in my head, gain clarity, and sort things out. Where I refresh my mind and make room for new ideas.

Moving my body. Walking my mind.

I wonder, and wonder.

Because when I’m stuck, I need to wander.

And somewhere along the way, another feather finds its way into my jar.

What little wonder have you noticed on a recent walk?
